David Mayes - Principal

David has over 25 years of emerging market experience. Starting at Singer & Friedlander in the early 1980's, he joined Libra Bank and then Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. He became co-head of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell EM customer trading in 1992. In 1993 he joined Credit Suisse First Boston as head of EM customer trading. He was promoted to Managing Director in 1997.

Throughout his time at CS he had a variety of roles, including 2 stints in proprietary trading and a year in Singapore as head of Non-Japan Asia. Whilst there his main responsibility was for the restructuring of the firm's Asian loan portfolio. Following this he came back to London to re-build and run EM credit trading after the Russian default of 1998. His responsibilities included bonds, credit derivatives and the structured loan book. This encompassed 50 traders worldwide. During this time he was the Credit Suisse representative on the Board of the Emerging Markets Trading Association. From 2003 to when he left Credit Suisse in 2009, he ran a small proprietary trading team, with a mandate to trade all EM products, including bonds, FX, and derivatives thereon.

He is also on the board of a major pension fund, an international charity and a UK regional pub company (25 sites).
